Emergency Medicine 2005 Lifelong Learning and Self-Assessment (LLSA) Review

Course Description | Faculty | Accreditation | General Information

Course Description

This course is based on the 20 articles of the American Board of Emergency Medicine 2005 Lifelong Learning and Self-Assessment (LLSA) program. This course is taken almost entirely on-line.

Each of the 20 ABEM LLSA articles has been summarized by a Harvard Emergency Medicine faculty member with expertise in that area. These summaries stress the key points of the article, providing the information crucial to passing the 2005 LLSA exam.

Featured faculty for this year include:
Peter Rosen, MD, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
Michele Burns Ewald, MD, Children’s Hospital Boston
David Brown, MD, Massachusetts General Hospital
Jonathan Edlow, MD, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center

The course works as follows:

1. Download the 20 Harvard EM faculty summaries, all in PDF format.
2. Access the 2005 LLSA readings.

*ACEP members and subscribers to Annals of Emergency Medicine enrolled in this course receive access to all 20 original 2005 LLSA articles for FREE. 18 of the 20 articles (including the two articles from Tintinalli) are immediately available in PDF format to download. Paper copies of the remaining two articles will be mailed to you.

*Those who are not ACEP member or subscribers to Annals of Emergency Medicine will have FREE instant online access to 13 of the 20 original 2005 LLSA articles (including the two articles from Tintinalli). Paper copies of two of the remaining articles will be mailed for FREE. We regret that, due to copyright restrictions, we cannot provide free access to the five articles from Annals of Emergency Medicine to those who are not ACEP members or subscribers of that journal.

3. Take the on-line 40-question multiple choice test. If you answer a question incorrectly, an explanation appears and you will be prompted to choose again. You cannot fail the exam if you learn from your incorrect choices and keep trying. CME credit is granted after successful completion of the test. You will then be well-prepared to take the actual ABEM 2005 LLSA test.
